Roberta asked thought-provoking questions. How do you play with the material? What qualities do you notice as you touch the paper? What do you see happens? What do you hear? Roberta asked additional questions. How can educators support children as they explore? What questions do you ask children to support the process of building a relationship with the paper materials? How is the process and product connected? How can we communicate the richness of the experience that has involved the brain and hands? Can you see paper in all levels of wonder? Not to limit paper to just drawn on or to cut with scissors. Roberta had short discussions on the clarity of materials and being aware of simple actions. The horizontal vs. the vertical presentation and interaction. Actions with hands and understanding the pressure of the hand on the paper, the force and the impact… notice the change on the appearance of the original state of the paper… change with lines, softness etc…
Roberta brings emphasis to exploring gramma of paper with considerations “how to take care of the outcome of the experience, where to place, how to end of the process or when to introduce new tool or material to interact with paper”. Roberta guided the second session with the gift of time and time of exploration that has made impact on the educators and their approach to presenting future materials to students. Participates/Educators had the opportunity to connect and calibrate positive mindset to celebrate the “learning process” of building a relationship with “grammar of paper”. During reflection period, several participates shared their rich encounter with this session and the language of paper. There are many lenses to view materials, many of the 100 languages that have connections to paper, and many ways to add depth to the relationship to paper. This was active approach with the paper and one of reflection on the process. Bravo Roberta! text written by Hope Petrozzi
